Chopstix approached us with an existing brand and strong use of their logo and identity, but a weak, template-based web presence and an outdated menu, complete with large-format menu boards on their walls.

Their need was simple: recreate their in-house menu, wall boards and take-out menu to incorporate both an updated look as well as improved legibility. Chopstix also required a redesign of their site to better reflect their brand and the color scheme implemented in their menus.

We worked closely with two of the owners of Chopstix, Laura and Salina O'Brien, on a representative photo shoot to accompany their print and online personalities. A main concern voiced by Laura and Salina is over customer adventurousness: part of the aim of the photo shoot was to illustrate the accessibility of many of the menu items that otherwise might seem a little too foreign for many take-out customers.

Thus integration of photography was important. The website features a static banner of photography on each page, which functions as a handy reference to viewers. Likewise we integrated photographs into each page of each menu version and varied color use to improve legibility.
