Aya Sofia, St. Louis-based Turkish and Mediterranean Cuisine
Client: Aya Sofia Restaurant
Services: Photography, Web Design, Ad Design for Print and Web
Timeline: 3 Months
Aya Sofia had previously used its logo and brand very well. But they needed a change from their existing ad designer and were ready to grow into a new, contemporary look for their website. What came after was completely different from what came before, in terms of the way the information was delivered to the consumer.
Aya Sofia's owner, Alicia Aboussie, had expressed a wish for the new website to match in tone and mood the interior of the restaurant, which is dominated by deep reds, patterned latticework in between booths, and candlelight. Likewise we had made the decision to depart from traditional site layout, while still maintaining easy navigation and legibility.
We decided on a modifiable four-column layout, with the site's main navigation appearing on the left-hand side. The owners revamped the menu before the launch of the site, and it was broken into sections, each section getting its own link in the secondary navigation column.
The site's main content, history, culture, photo gallery and menu appear in the main content box, followed to the right by the static contact information and logo.
In January 2009 Seek also took over as overflow ad designer for Aya Sofia as well, producing same-day web and print ads and efficiently utilizing photography.
